COST MEETING
As a WG member of COST Action 21108, Dr. Odabas attended the 4th European Network for Skin Engineering and Modeling Meeting, which was held in Belgrade on September 25–27, 2024.
Research Visit at MUI
Prof. Odabas visited Michael Ausserlechner, Associated Professor at the Department of Pediatrics, Head of the Molecular Biology Research Laboratory at Medical University of Innsbruck, Ausria for a collaboration project within the scope of the NETSKINMODELS COST Action.
Research Visit at TUM
Prof. Odabas visited Prof. Lieleg group at Technical University of Munich (TUM), CPA for a month, where he focused on studying mucin-coated decellularized plants as a novel cellulose-based wound dressing material. The research aims to enhance wound healing by leveraging the natural properties of mucins, which can promote hydration and create an optimal environment for tissue regeneration.
COST MEETING
As a WG member of COST Action 21108, Dr. Odabas attended the 2nd European Network for Skin Engineering and Modeling Meeting, which was held in Porto on September 13–15, 2023. During the meeting, several tasks were determined for upcoming duties for better understanding the in vitro and in vivo skin models, opportunities, and challenges.
Visit to ICTP-CSIC
During September 8–11, Dr. Odabas visited Rebeca Hernandez and Alberto Gallardo of ICTP-CSIC (Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, Spanish National Research Council), Madrid, for prospective project collaboration on stimuli-responsive and self-healing polymers for regenerative medicine purposes. New projects are on the way.
THESIS DEFENSE
Süveyda successfully defended her Master thesis on July 3, 2023 and earned MSc degree in Chemistry. During her thesis, she was focused on developing bone surface mimicked methacrylated hydrogels from gelatin or decellularized ECM and investigated thier interaction with the bone cells.
26th TTS CONGRESS
The 26th Annual Congress of the Turkish Thoracic Society (TTS) was held on 09-13 May 2023 in Antalya, Turkey. As an invited speaker, Prof. Odabaş delivered a talk about 3D bioprinting technologies.
COST MEETING
On 15-17 February 2023, the European Network for Skin Engineering and Modeling NETSKINMODELS -COST project was officially launched in Bratislava, gathered over 70 people from academia and industry including Prof. Odabaş who is leading the partnership of Ankara University. The four-year project aims to create a scientific hub of excellence encompassing research institutions, hospitals, and industries, to develop, share, and produce sophisticated cell-based and computational models of healthy and diseased skin.
THESIS DEFENSE
İpek successfully defended her Master thesis on January 9, 2023 and earned MSc degree in Chemistry. During her thesis, she was focused on developing sandwich constructs, comprising decellularized skin-ECM and melt-electrowritten PLA layers for skin tissue regeneration.
COST ACTION
Prof. Odabaş has been appointed as working group member (WG) to the COST Program (Cooperation Europe in Science and Technology), CA21108 - European Network for Skin Engineering and Modeling (NETSKINMODELS). This network aims to development and validation of standout sophisticated cell-based and computational skin models, including the development of artificial intelligence models for dermatological research.
EBAT 2022
4th Eurasia Biochemical Approaches & Technologies (EBAT) Congress was held in Antalya, Turkey on November 3-6, 2022. bteLAB participated with 1 oral and 2 poster presentations.

EBAT 2022

Research Visit at TUM
Within the framework of bilateral collaboration, Prof. Odabaş visited Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany and carried out short-term studies as a visiting researcher at Oliver Lieleg’s Group at the Center for Functional Protein Assemblies (CPA) Munich, Germany.
His studies was related to processing and further rheological analysis of decellularized skin tissue derived biomaterials.
MRS 2021
On December 6th, 2021, Prof. Odabaş joined the fall meeting of Materials Research Society (MRS) and talked about “Alternative Approaches to Mediate Cell Behaviour”.
